D.L. Phillips Complex

The Phillips Complex contains the athletic facilities for the 49ers baseball, softball and tennis programs as well as the Wachovia Fieldhouse which includes the locker rooms and coaches offices for both soccer programs as well as the baseball and softball programs.

Wachovia Fieldhouse

Opened: 1994

  • Contains locker rooms and coaches' offices for the men’s and women’s soccer, baseball and softball programs.
  • An auxiliary athletic training room as well as a locker room used by officials for soccer, softball and baseball games.
  • The Fieldhouse includes a hospitality room with floor to ceiling windows on two-sides. The hospitality room is used for various meetings and receptions in concert with events in the Phillips Athletic Complex.

    Robert and Mariam Hayes Baseball Stadium/Tom and Lib Phillips Field (1100)

    Opened: March, 31, 2007

  • The playing field is called Tom and Lib Phillips Field. The playing surface was redone in the summer of 2004 and a new outfield wall was installed at that time as well.
  • The stadium can accommodate 3,000 fans (550 chair-backed seats in the lower level, 550 bleachers seats in the upper level as well as lawn seating along the left and right field foul lines).
  • The facility contains concessions stands and restrooms on the concourse between the lower and upper levels.
  • Press Box and Hospitality Suites accessible by stairs or elevator - Erik Walker Suite is the main hospitality suite and is named in honor of former 49ers baseball standout Erik Walker who tragically lost his life in Fall of 2006. The Erik Walker Suite includes a sun deck with covered tables as well as an inside suite featuring stadium-style seating. The press box area contains two radio booths, one television booth and a conference room as well as the Operations Center to conduct scoreboard and public address operations with ample media seating. The facility contains displays of historical 49ers baseball players and teams.
  • New digital scoreboard with message board was installed in time for the start of the 2008 season.

    Phillips Softball Diamond - (capacity of 200) - The home of the 49ers softball program. The facility added lights in 2006 which enables the 49ers to play night games. A digital scoreboard with a message board was added to the facility before the start of the 2008 season. The facility also went under a renovation in 2009 to add bleachers and chair-back seats to the field. The renovation increased seating capacity to 300 prior to the start of the 2010 season. Fans can also sit at the picnic tables along the left field line.

    Phillips Tennis Complex - Fifteen hard courts which are used in practice and match competition by the 49ers men’s and women’s tennis teams.

    Lighted Soccer Practice Field - The former game field of the 49ers men’s and women’s soccer programs is in the Phillips Athletic Complex. The field which contains lights is now used as the practice facility for the men’s and women’s soccer programs. The highlight of the facility is the word Charlotte that is painted into the cement stands and can be seen clearly from the Transamerica Field stands which looks directly toward the practice field.
