Charlotte senior captain Amanda Videmsek (Highland Heights, Ohio / Beaumont School) and sophomore libero Michelle Hovey (Raleigh, N.C. / Lighthouse) have both been named to the 11-member 2013 Conference USA Volleyball All-Academic Team, league officials announced today.

Videmsek carried a 3.969 grade point average in exercise science. She led the 49ers with 366 kills and a 3.45 kills-per-set average, which was 11th-best in C-USA. She became the 18th player in team history to breach the 1000-kill plateau at Charlotte, and finished 17th in school history with 1,027 kills for her four-year career. She finished with five games of 20 or more kills and logged a team-best 10 double-doubles this season. She also led Charlotte with 94 blocks, and her 0.89 block-per-set average was 17th in the league. She was 10th overall in the league by scoring 4.03 points per set this season. It was Videmsek's second honor, as she earned 2012 Academic All-Conference in Charlotte's final season in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Hovey has a perfect 4.0 GPA in her major of mechanical engineering and led the conference with a 5.25 digs-per-set average. She is only the second player in program history to get past the 500-dig mark for a season (556), landing second on the all-time list for a single season in that category. She was one of five players in the league to reach the 500-dig mark, fishing second overall in total kills. Only three players got over 5.0 digs per set this season in Conference USA. Hovey set a new school record with 38 digs in a match, getting there in five set at Chattanooga on Sept. 6. She then tied her own mark, and set a new record with 38 in a four-set match, in league play at Marshall on Oct. 26. She is second all-time at Charlotte in career digs per set, averaging 4.04 in her two-year career.
