The Atlantic 10 announced Monday that it has named five golfers to the Academic All-Conference team for 2013. The team was selected by a vote of the league’s golf media relations directors.
Back-to-back A-10 Individual Champion Raoul Menard of Charlotte is among the group. The sophomore led Charlotte to the team championship en route to Performer of the Year honors. Menard and his teammates won the 49ers seventh A-10 Championship and will compete at the NCAA Tournament Columbus Regional starting on Thursday Menard has a cumulative grade point average of 3.59 in pre-Business Administration in his second year with the 49ers.
Korey Ward of Xavier joined Menard on the all-conference team following the A-10 Championships, was given an individual at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will compete in the Columbus Regional as well.
Matt Buse and Andrew Steffensmeier of Dayton were named to the all-academic team as well. They were joined by VCU’s Matt Ball Jr. who helped VCU to a second-place team finish at the league championships, after placing in a tie for seventh overall individually.
