Charlotte women’s soccer picks up academic honor
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team was recognized as one of 502 programs across all NCAA divisions and the NAIA as a recipient of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Team Academic Award.

The 49ers join the Charlotte men's soccer program as honorees for the 2011-12 academic year by the national governing body, one of 150 schools across the country to have both teams recognized.

Under the direction of head coach John Cullen, the Charlotte women posted a cumulative 3.42 grade-point average.

To qualify for the NSCAA award, a program must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average for the academic year under consideration.

This past season, 49ers women's soccer players Alex Kubrick and Sarah Ann Waugh were selected to the All-Atlantic 10 Academic Team, while Waugh earned a spot on the Capital One All-District III First Team and has advanced to the national ballot, which will be released Nov. 29.
