Charlotte 49ers Head Coach Brad Lambert has announced that Mikel Hunter has been named a graduate assistant for the 2014 season.
Hunter, who started all 11 games of 2013, was one of the 49ers leading receivers of the inaugural season. Selected as a team captain for the inaugural game, Hunter had 45 receptions for 551 yards with two TD catches during the first season. His 53-yard TD reception in the 49ers win at Presbyterian is the 49ers longest. He also had a 96-yard kick-off return for a TD against Chowan, another 49ers record. He led the 49ers in return yardage for both punts and kickoffs and topped the 49ers with 1138 all-purpose yards.
Hunter becomes the first 49ers football alum to earn a collegiate coaching position with the 49ers.
He graduated in December, 2013 with a degree in history.
Hunter replaces Stanley Arnoux who chose not to move in to the graduate assistant position.
