Head football coach Brad Lambert and his staff welcomed 200 fans in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Salons for the 49ers Second Annual Signing Day Chalk Talk, Thursday.
With video of each of the 49ers' 19 signees, as well as three transfers announced in December, the 49ers coaching staff introduced its second class of football recruits to Niner Nation.
"We're really pleased with the balance (in this class)," Lambert said. "Age balance. Position balance. We feel really good about the teams we competed against and we feel really good about where we ended up."
Of the 49ers 22 newcomers since the fall practice season completed, six are transfers, including four junior college transfers and two four-year college transfers. The 49ers also signed 16 high school seniors, 10 of which came from North Carolina, five from South Carolina and six of which came from the greater Charlotte area.
In addition to comments from head coach Brad Lambert, coaches Bruce Tall, Jeff Mullen, Phil Ratliff, James Adams, Drew Dayton, Damien Gary, Joe Tereshinski, Napoleon Sykes and Johnson Richardson all spoke about signees, as well, giving fans a better glimpse of not only the players they'll be watching but the coaches charged with leading them.
The 49ers, who will play in their historic inaugural season this fall, hosted this Chalk Talk reception the day after National Signing Day last year and this year.
Charlotte will compete as an FCS Independent in 2013 and 2014 before moving to FBS status as a member of Conference USA in 2015. It completed its first season of fall workouts in November.
