Charlotte Sports Information
Charlotte 49ers head football coach Brad Lambert has announced that the 49ers have added a 26th signee to their first-ever football recruiting class. Charlotte has signed Prince Mayela, out of Charlotte's West Mecklenburg H.S., to join the previous 25 signees. Mayela was a 5-11 safety for head coach Jeffrey Caldwell who earned all-conference honors for the Hawks in 2011 and 2012. Also a two-time all-Mecklenburg choice, Mayela earned honorable mention all-state recognition as a senior. He won the Hawks' Defensive MVP award as a junior in 2011 and the Iron Man Award as a senior in 2012. West Meck's Junior and Senior Class President, Mayela is a member of the National Honor Society. Charlotte has signed 26 players to its first recruiting class. The 49ers inaugural football season will be in 2013. |
