UPDATE -- Charlotte 49ers head football coach Brad Lambert announced that freshman H-back Justin Bolus (Folly Beach, S.C.) has withdrawn from school after two recent surgeries for a stomach ailment, a non-football related issue.

Bolus was hospitalized in mid-September with a stomach ailment that required two surgeries. The surgeries forced Bolus to miss significant class time and he has now withdrawn from school due to the medical hardship with the hope of returning in the spring semester.

The Charlotte 49ers football program will begin play in August, 2013. Lambert and his staff are using this fall to prepare the current roster for the inaugural season with practices and workout sessions.

Sept. 20 --

Charlotte 49ers head football coach Brad Lambert announced that freshman H-back Justin Bolus (Folly Beach, S.C.) will miss the fall practice schedule after two recent surgeries for a stomach ailment, a non-football related issue.

Bolus' condition is improving, but the 6-2 James Island High standout will not be able to practice until the spring.

"With Justin, football is the farthest thing from our minds right now," said Lambert, who visited Bolus Wednesday. "Our focus is on his well-being and getting him better. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. In speaking with his mother this morning, we understand that he is improving -- and that is great news."

The Charlotte 49ers football program will begin play in August, 2013. Lambert and his staff are using this fall to prepare the current roster for the inaugural season with practices and workout sessions. After completing three weeks of strength and conditioning activities, the 49ers will hold their first practice with helmets and pads, tomorrow.
