Chris returned to Charlotte in 2010 to work with the women's soccer program and he maintains the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex athletic training room. After graduating from Charlotte with a BS in Athletic Training, he spent two years working at the University of South Carolina.  He was an intern athletic trainer within a pilot program for the United States Army. He was worked with a basic training combat training battalion in Fort Jackson, overseeing the sports medicine needs of 1,200 soldiers at each graduation cycle.

Along with being BOC certified, he is also state certified in South Carolina and holds his Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) credentials through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Chris earned his BS in Athletic Training from UNC Charlotte in 2008 and is completing coursework for his Master's in Heath Sciences through Nova Southeastern, with an anticipated graduation in 2014.
