Davidson, NC – Behind goals by Kyle Parker and Brandt Bronico and a strong defensive effort, the 23rd-ranked Charlotte 49ers shutout Davidson, 2-0, on the road in their final exhibition game.

“This was a fantastic preseason game for us,” Charlotte coach Kevin Langan said. “We had moments when we took it them. Then there were moments when Davidson pushed forward and we had to scrap and fight for the ball. I was pleased with our fitness level on a hot humid night. It was great scoring two goals and recording another clean sheet.”

Parker gave the 49ers the lead for good when he blasted a penalty kick into the back of the net in the 28th minute. Parker’s goal was his third of the preseason.

Bronico tallied his third goal of the preseason when he blasted a shot into the upper left corner of the goal off a free kick from 25 yards out in the 64th minute.

Charlotte finished the game with a 16-4 advantage in shots. Bronico led the 49ers with five shots.

Goalkeepers Austin Pack and Nick Hensley combined on the shutout for the 49ers.

Charlotte begins the regular-season at Transamerica Field when they play Radford, Sunday, August 31 at 6 pm.
