Gentile Earns Several Weekly Honors

Charlotte, N.C.  - Charlotte 49ers men's soccer sophomore forward Giuseppe Gentile earned several weekly honors for his performance this past weekend. He was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week as well as TopDrawerSoccer.com's Player of the Week, and College Sports Madness Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, after scoring three goals and recording two assists in the 49ers two wins this past weekend.

This is the second time in his career that he has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week as he earned the honor once last season. This marked the time in his career that he has been named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's National Team of the Week.

Gentile scored two goals and recorded an assist in the 49ers 4-0 win over Massachusetts, Friday. Then, he scored a goal and recorded an assist in the 49ers 6-1 win over Rhode Island, Sunday.

For the season, Gentile is tied with Jennings Rex for the team lead in goals with seven. He is tied with Tyler Gibson for second on the team in assists with four. Isaac Caughran leads the 49ers in assists with five.

Gentile, Rex, Caughran, Gibson and the rest of the 49ers' 14th-ranked men's soccer team returns to action when they face 22nd-ranked Saint Louis and Butler on the road this weekend, October 26-28. First, the 49ers play Saint Louis, Friday, October 26 at 8 pm. Then, the 49ers play Butler on Sunday, October 28 at 1 pm.
