Charlotte, NC- The nationally-ranked  Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team ( #3 in College Soccer News Poll,  #8 in NSCAA Poll) plays  Gardner-Webb at Transamerica Field in their final exhibition game, Sunday, August 19 at 7 pm.  Admission is free to the game.

The 49ers defeated UNC Wilmington, 3-1, on their road in their first exhibition game, August 14.

A couple of weeks, the 49ers were picked to win the Atlantic 10 title by a vote of the league's 16 head coaches.

Charlotte returns eight starters and 13 letterwinners from the historic College Cup squad.  Charlotte also welcomes 10 talented newcomers as well as several retruners who redshirted last season to the 2012 roster. The 49ers, who captured the 2010 Atlantic 10 regular-season title, finished last season with a  16-5-4 overall record and a 6-1-2 mark in the A-10.  The men's soccer team finished #2 in the final NSCAA Coaches Poll after being the first team in school history in any sport to compete in an NCAA Championship game.  Head Coach Kevin Langan looks to build on the success of last season with talented squad led by 2011 Soccer America National Freshman of the Year and A-10 Rookie of the Year, Giuseppe Gentile, and 2011 All-Atlantic-10 picks Donnie Smith and Tyler Gibson

Charlotte returns one of the top goalkeepers in the Atlantic 10, Klay Davis, as well.  Charlotte will look to standout seniors Aaron Weldon, Owen Darby, Isaac Caughran, Donnie Smith and Jennings Rex for leadership this season. The 49ers also return stalwarts Aidan Kirkbride, Will Mayhew, Thomas Allen and Anthony Perez.
