Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team was one of 220 men's program's in the nation to earn the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award.  The 49ers were one of 148 schools to have both their men's and women's teams honored.

A total of 717 college teams were recognized for having a cumulative grade point average over a 3.0 for the 2011-12 academic year.

The 49ers are making their eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Charlotte advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after last night's 3-2 win over UAB at Transamerica Field in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  

The 49ers, which are 15-3-3 on the season, will play the third-seed Georgetown Hoyas on the road, Sunday, November 18 at 1 pm. Last season, the 49ers advanced to the College Cup Championship game.
