Mark Verburg is in his tenth year with the 49ers' Athletic Academic Center joining the AAC staff in Fall 2002.   Verburg now serves as the Tutor Coordinator and works with football.

While at Charlotte, he has advised volleyball, women's soccer, men's soccer, golf, softball, baseball, men's tennis, women's tennis, women's cross country/track and field and men's cross country/track and field and directed the Life Skills program and the department's community service efforts.

Verburg earned his M.A. in Liberal Studies (concentration in sport and religion) from UNC Charlotte in 2010. He earned his M.Ed. in Sport Management from the University of Georgia in 2001. While at Georgia, he mentored and tutored men's basketball student-athletes in the Academic Achievement Center. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration (Management) from the University of Missouri in 1999.

Verburg is a native of Lee's Summit, Missouri and resides in Concord, NC with his wife Meriale, daughters Carson and Reese and their yellow lab Georgia.
