Conference History: This will be UTSA’s first year in Conference USA. In 2012, they made the move to the Western Conference from the Southland Conference, where they had been members since 1991.
Athletic Highlights: With 56,743 in attendance, UTSA set the NCAAs record for the highest-attended inaugural game for a start-up football program. The Roadrunners also broke the attendance record for an inaugural season, averaging 35,521 per game. The men's basketball team qualified for the NCAA tournament four times: 1988, 1999, 2004, and 2011. The women's basketball team qualified for the 2008 Women's NCAA Tournament. The softball team won their first Southland Conference tournament in 2004. The baseball team won the Southland Conference tournament in 1994 and 2004 and the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in 2013. The Roadrunners baseball team advanced to the 2013 NCAA Tournament and the volleyball team had a top 100 RPI, last season.
Noteworthy Accomplishments: UTSA is a member of the Oak Ridge Associated Universities, a consortium of the nation's major doctorate-level universities dedicated to collaboration and scientific advancement. The University of Texas at San Antonio is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a "High Research Activity" university. The school reached a new record of $56.8 million for research expenditures in fiscal year 2011. A 2007 study released by Academic Analytics showed that UTSA was ranked fifth among other large research universities in the state of Texas for faculty scholarly productivity
