IRVING, Texas –
The Charlotte women’s basketball schedule is now finalized, as it has received from Conference USA its 18-game league slate for the 2014-15 season. The conference shifts to a mostly Thursday/Saturday format this year with each school playing the other 13 teams at least once, with five serving as home-and-home opponents to complete the 18-contest calendar which begins in early January 2015.
Unlike last season in which the 49ers opened with back-to-back home tilts, Charlotte will hit the road to start with trip to Norfolk, Virginia, to face Old Dominion Jan. 4. The Niners will then play host to conference newcomer WKU in the initial Halton Arena conference game of the campaign, Jan. 8, before welcoming Marshall to town two days later.
The two-game home and away rotation will continue through the end of January, which includes a meeting at home with defending league regular season and tournament champion Middle Tennessee Jan. 24, before Charlotte has an open date Feb. 5 to prepare for the final month of the regular season.
The 49ers will play host to three league foes to begin February, starting with the second meeting with Old Dominion Feb. 7. Charlotte will also play host to UTEP and UTSA the following week, capping a season-long three-game homestand.
The home slate concludes with Rice Feb. 28, two days after North Texas will step onto the Halton Arena floor. The 49ers are back on the road, March 5 and 7, to mark the end of the regular-season calendar at WKU and Marshall, respectively.
Overall, Charlotte will play host to WKU (Jan. 8), Marshall (Jan. 10), UAB (Jan. 22), Middle Tennessee (Jan. 24), Old Dominion (Feb. 7), UTEP (Feb. 12), UTEP (Feb. 14), North Texas (Feb. 26) and North Texas (Feb. 28).
The conference tournament will be held March 11-14 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Game times for all contests, both home and away, will be announced at a later date. 2014-15 Charlotte women’s basketball Conference USA schedule
