Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers and their media rights holder IMG College have announced that the television partnership with WCCB Charlotte will extend into basketball season.

WCCB televised each of the 49ers home football games and one road game at Coastal Carolina during this fall’s inaugural season and have now added five men’s basketball games and one women's basketball game for the 2013-14 season.

"We are thrilled to be able to continue our relationship with WCCB," said 49ers Director of Athletics Judy Rose. "They joined with us and helped us deliver our new football program throughout the Charlotte area and now they will help us take our basketball programs right into those very same living rooms."

WCCB will produce and televise the 49ers men's basketball games on Dec. 4 vs. Davidson, Jan. 4 vs. NC A&T, Feb. 1 vs. FIU and Mar. 2 vs. Old Dominion. Each of those four games are home games for the 49ers played on-campus at Halton Arena. In addition, WCCB will carry the 49ers road game, Dec. 8 at Appalachian State.  WCCB Charlotte will also produce and broadcast the 49ers women's basketball home game vs. Southern Miss on Feb. 8.

"WCCB is both honored and thrilled to continue its partnership with IMG College and the Charlotte 49ers" said Jim White, VP/GM at the station.

Under head coach Alan Major, the 49ers are off to a 5-1 start this season. They are receiving votes in both the AP and ESPN/Coaches polls. They won the Championship of the prestigious Puerto Rico Tip-Off by knocking off #13/#14 Michigan in the title game.  The women's basketball team, which has been to 11 straight post-season tournaments, is 3-3 on the young year, with a perfect 3-0 mark at home.

Ryan Rose, who provided play-by-play for the 49ers football games, will handle the bulk of those duties during basketball season. Former Wake Forest head coach Dave Odom will supply the color commentary while WCCB Sports Reporter Sean Bell will be the crew’s sideline reporter.

The five men's basketball broadcasts will complement a TV schedule that already included 12 game broadcasts. Each of the recent three games that Charlotte won on its way to the Championship of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off were televised on either ESPNU or ESPN2. In addition to those three broadcasts, nine additional games will be broadcast through Conference USA’s television partners, giving Charlotte fans, ultimately, the opportunity to catch 17 49ers games on television.

The February 8 women's basketball broadcast gives Charlotte's women's program three televised contests during a five-game swing in February. The Feb. 13 game at Louisiana Tech and the Feb. 22 contest at Middle Tennessee will be broadcast as part of Conference USA's package with the Fox Sports networks.
