The Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team (15-10, A-10: 7-4) plays Saint Joseph's (17-8, A-10: 7-4) in their Play 4Kay game in Halton Arena, Saturday, February 18 at 7 pm. The game pits two teams who are currently tied for fourth in the Atlantic 10 and they both are battling for one of the four first round byes in the Atlantic 10 Tournament which starts in two weeks.
The first 500 fans in attendance receive a FREE pink T-shirt. Play 4Kay (formerly known as Pink Zone) is a unified effort by women's basketball coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. All donations benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. This initiative has raised over $1.5 million for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund since 2006. Help support a great cause and wear pink to the game. Donations will be accepted at the game for the Kay Yow Cancer fund.

She is second in the Atlantic 10 in rebounding at 9.2 boards per game. Amanda Dowe, who averages 7.0 points per game, leads the Atlantic 10 in rebounding at 9.4 boards per game. Dowe grabbed 32 rebounds in the 49ers last two home games. Epiphany Woodson is second on the team and 16th in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 11.8 points per game. She has recorded six double-figure scoring games off the bench in Atlantic 10 play. Gabby Tyler is third on the team in scoring at 8.4 points per game. She also averages 5.5 boards per game. Jai Forney is fourth on the team in scoring at 7.6 points per game. Forney is the only Niner to start all 25 games this season. Hillary Sigmon, who has started the last 15 games, averages 7.4 points per game. Ny Hammonds, who averages 5.1 points per game, leads the team in assists with 90. Ayanna Holmes has started 21 games this season at point guard. Holmes averages 4.2 points per game. Katie Meador, who averages 4.5 points per game, scored nine points off the bench in the 49ers last home game against Rhode Island.
Charlotte and Saint Joseph's have played eight previous times. The 49ers lead the all-time series, 6-2. Charlotte has won the last five meetings between the two teams. Charlotte defeated Saint Joseph's, 66-57, on the road in their last meeting, January 15, 2011. Former 49ers standout Shannon McCallum led three 49ers in double-figures with 20 points. Hailey grabbed 10 rebounds and Dowe grabbed nine boards in that game. Charlotte defeated Saint Joseph's, 67-58, in their last meeting in Halton Arena, January 23, 2010. McCallum recorded a double-double in that game with 21 points and 12 rebounds. The 49ers are 3-0 all-time against Saint Joseph's in Halton Arena.
