Charlotte, NC - Senior guard Shannon McCallum was named to the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) All-Tournament team after helping the 49ers reach the WNIT Final Four for the first time in school history. The 49ers had never advanced past the second round of the WNIT prior to this season's four WNIT victories and a berth in the program's first-ever WNIT Final Four.
McCallum, who averaged 16.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and over two assists per game in the WNIT, played an integral role in helping the 49ers defeat Big South Regular-Season Champion Liberty, SEC foes South Carolina and Florida and ACC foe Virginia in the WNIT. McCallum scored 21 points against South Carolina, 25 points against Florida and 24 points against Virginia.
This season, McCallum, who led the team in scoring at 13 points per game, helped the 49ers record a school-record 27 wins. She finished the season with a career-high 108 assists.
McCallum, who finished her career by playing in a school-record 130 career games, finished fourth in the school's all-time scoring list with 1,525 career points.
She is currently in Indianapolis, which is the site of the Women's NCAA Tournament Final Four, participating in a Pro Hoops Camp which is in advance of the WNBA Draft, April 11.
