Charlotte Plays Florida At Home In WNIT Third Round, Thursday (BLACKOUT)

The Charlotte 49ers (25-9) battles SEC foe Florida (20-14), who is coached by former Charlotte coach Amanda Butler, in Halton Arena in the third round of the WNIT, Thursday, March 24 at 7 pm. The 49ers have advanced to the third round of the WNIT for the first time in school history.  Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for youth. The first 300 Charlotte 49ers students are admitted free and then admission is $4 for Charlotte 49ers students. The 49ers have declared the game a blackout. The fans are encouraged to wear black to the game.


Shannon McCallum, who scored a game-high 21 points in the 49ers' last game against South Carolina, leads the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game. She played in her school-record 127th career game against South Carolina. Woodson, who scored 14 points against South Carolina, has recorded 13 consecutive double-figure scoring games. She is second on the team in scoring at 12.3 points per game. Hailey, who is third on the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game, leads the team in rebounding at 8.5 boards per game. Hailey has tallied 50 blocked shots this season which is the fourth highest single-season total in school history. Kendria Holmes, who averages 9.0 points per game, leads the team with 133 assists. Woodson (99 assists) and McCallum (98 assists) have a chance to join Holmes in the 100 assists club which would mark the first time in school history that three players have recorded 100 assists in a season.  Gabby Tyler, who averages 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds at South Carolina. Amanda Dowe, who averages 4.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, has grabbed 50 rebounds in the 49ers' last five games. Jai Forney, who averages 4.6 points and 3.9 rebounds, scored 10 points against South Carolina. Jessica Johnson, who averages 3.5 points per game, has giving the 49ers quality minutes off the bench this season.

This game will mark the 49ers' second straight game against an SEC foe after their 69-57 win on the road at South Carolina last Sunday. Charlotte is 0-5 all-time against Florida. Florida defeated Charlotte, 76-70, at home earlier this year in the preseason WNIT. Epiphany Woodson led the 49ers with a career-high 23 points in that game.
