CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte women’s basketball will play inside Halton Arena one last time during the regular season when it welcomes Marshall to town for a 7 p.m. Saturday tip on senior night. The 49ers are 9-4 this year in their own building and are looking for a 12th-straight double-digit win campaign on their home floor.

Charlotte will recognize the contributions of its senior class after the game, as Ny Hammonds makes her final appearance in front of the home crowd. Manager Gregory Morris will also be honored as part of the tribute.

Charlotte (13-13, 7-6 C-USA) are seeking back-to-back victories for the first time since the start of conference play after earning a 79-68 triumph over FIU Wednesday night as five different players tallied double-figure points, led by freshman Lefty Webster’s 17.

Hammonds tallied the second triple-double in program history against the Panthers, pouring in 10 points to go with a career-high 11 rebounds and a career-best 14 assists. She joins Patricia Walker as the only two players to don a Niners uniform to accomplish the feat and is one of just seven in Conference USA history, and the first in over four years, to do so. She attained the numbers while being honored pregame for recently breaking the school’s career assists record.

Redshirt junior Gabby Tyler paces the 49ers with averages of 12.0 points and 7.4 rebounds, while converting 56.8 percent of her field goal attempts. Her 68.4 percent rate in league-only contests tops Conference USA.

Hammonds (11.8 ppg), sophomore Kira Gordon (10.7) and junior Hillary Sigmon (10.3) join Tyler with double-figure scoring averages entering Saturday.

On the glass, Gordon (6.6 rpg) and sophomore Alexis Alexander (5.6) continue to rank behind Tyler for team-high honors.

Marshall is in its second year under head coach Matt Daniel and the Thundering Herd have lost their last three outings prior to arriving in the Queen City. The team is 9-18 overall and 2-12 in Conference USA.

Leah Scott owns the only double-digit scoring average for the Herd with her 11.7 mark but Suporia Dickens is next at 9.2 per contest. Dickens is Marshall’s top rebounder with 7.0 boards each time out, just ahead of 6.7 and 6.0 per game averages by Chukweka Ezeigbo and Chelsey Romero, respectively.

The Thundering Herd claimed a 71-69 triumph over the 49ers in the earlier meeting this season, Feb. 15, in Huntington, W.Va., to even the all-time series at one game apiece. Charlotte’s victory came in 1990.
