Alda Burston came to Charlotte as an assistant athletic trainer in in the fall of 2008. Her primary sport responsibility is women's basketball, though, she also serves as a member of the Sports Performance & Wellness Team and she is the medical care supervisor for women's sports.

Prior to coming to Charlotte, the Lake Wales, Fla. native worked as a seasonal intern athletic trainer for the WNBA's Atlanta Dream during their 2008 season. In 2006 she interned with the NFL's Buffalo Bills. In addition, she was the graduate assistant athletic trainer for the University of Virginia's women's tennis team during the 2006-2007 season while working towards a master's degree in Athletic Training.

She received her BS degree in exercise science from The Florida State University in 2005. Her master thesis project entitled, The effects of a one-time abdominal muscle training session on the ability to contract the transverse abdominus in low back pain patients, was accepted as a poster presentation for the 2009 NATA Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium as well as for the 2011 IOC World Conference on Prevention of Injury and Illness in Sports.

Burston has also worked abroad as an athletic trainer. In 2010 she was a member of Athlete's in Action Sports Performance Tour in Guatemala City, Guatemala. This past May, she served as the athletic trainer for the WNBA's Atlanta Dream during their trip to Manchester, England.

Alda is married to former FSU standout defensive end Darrell Burston. They reside in Charlotte.
