|Help the 49ers in Fight Against Pediatric Cancer|
CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers men's basketball team will host families from Levine Children's Hospital for the Charlotte/North Texas match up on Saturday, January 18 as part of the annual Levine Children's Hospital/Stephen Doughton, Jr. Foundation Night. The game is set to tip at 7pm and in Halton Arena.
Current and former Levine Children's Hospital patients are being invited to the January 18 contest by the 49ers coaches and team to enjoy the NCAA Division I men's basketball game and participate in pre-game festivities including a facility and locker room tour, a meeting with Norm the Niner, and a hospitality function.
Levine Children's Hospital and the Stephen Doughton, Jr. Foundation have partnered for the event to raise funds to assist in the fight against pediatric cancer. Donations can be made at the Stephen Doughton, Jr. Foundation table located in the food court of Halton Arena on the day of the game or online by clicking this link.
Individual, group, and multi-game flex plans are on sale now. To be part of the action, fans may purchase tickets by visiting the 49ers athletic ticket office located in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center on the campus of UNC Charlotte or calling 704.687.4949. About Stephen Doughton, Jr. Foundation
In May 2006, Stephen Doughton, Jr., a 2012 UNC Charlotte graduate and current Associate Director of Basketball Operations with the 49ers, was diagnosed with Chronic Mylogenous Leukemia (CML). He was treated at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (WFBMC) and is currently in remission. After enduring the horror of being a cancer patient and witnessing young children battling cancer, he and his family decided to start a foundation in 2008.
