The Charlotte 49ers (1-1) returns to Halton Arena to play preseason Southern Conference favorite Elon (2-0), Friday, November 15 at 4 pm.
Charlotte defeated ETSU, 80-75, in their home opener in Halton Arena, Friday, November 8. The victory over ETSU marked the third straight season that the 49ers have won their season-opener. Then, Charlotte narrowly lost on the road at the College of Charleston, 83-82, in their last game, Tuesday, November 12.
Mike Thorne Jr., Pierria Henry, Terrence Williams and Shawn Lester have all scored in double-figures in each of the 49ers first two games. Thorne and Lester nearly recorded double-doubles in the ETSU game. Willie Clayton did record the 49ers first double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Ben Cherry has started the 49ers first two games this season. Marcus Bryan came off the bench to score nine points against ETSU in his first collegiate game.
This game will mark the third-ever meeting between Charlotte and Elon. The two teams have split the first two games. This game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two teams on one’s of the team’s home court as the previous two meeting were at neutral site. Charlotte defeated Elon, 75-61, in the preseason NIT in Durham, North Carolina, November 16, 2009 in their last meeting.
