MIAMI, FLA - The Charlotte 49ers (9-1) suffered their first loss of the season with a 77-46 setback on the road at the Miami Hurricanes (6-1).

"You have to Miami credit, they are a very good team and a potential Sweet Sixteen team," Charlotte coach Alan Major said. "Unfortunately we did not play Charlotte basketball tonight. We had some positive moments in the game but we did not match Miami's intensity tonight."

Chris Braswell recorded his seventh double-figure scoring game of the season with 13 points off the bench. With 13 points, he moved past Diego Guevara (1997-01) into 17th  place on the 49ers all-time scoring list 1212 points. Willie Clayton recorded his fourth straight double-figure scoring game with 11 points.

The 49ers bench behind the scoring of Braswell finished the game with a 23-17 advantage over Miami.

Miami began the game by scoring 15 of the first 19 points taking a 15-4 lead with 14:32 on the clock.

At the 14:18 mark, Braswell scored inside cutting Miami's lead to 15-6. The Hurricanes pushed their lead to 21-8 with 11:52 on the clock. The 49ers behind a three by Braswell and a layup by DeMario Mayfield cut Miami's lead to 21-13 with 8:33 left in the first half.

With 4:11 left in the half, Miami had pushed their lead to 17 points, 33-16, after Durand Scott scored inside.

Charlotte scored six of the first half's final eight points cutting Miami's halftime lead to 33-22 after Braswell knocked down two free throws with 48 seconds left in the half.

Miami went on an 18-10 run over the first eight minutes of the second half pushing their lead to 51-32 with 12:13 left in the half.

Charlotte behind the scoring of Braswell, Pierria Henry and E. Victor Nickerson went on an 8-1 run cutting Miami's lead to 52-39 with 9:19 left in the second half.

However, that would be as close as the 49ers would get to Miami.

Charlotte returns to action as they continue their two-game road trip with a road contest in Georgia at Kennesaw State, Sunday, December 16 at 4 pm.
