Charlotte 49ers head coach Alan Major has announced that junior forward K.J. Sherrill has decided to transfer from the program.

"KJ wants to explore his options elsewhere," Major said, "and we support him in that decision. We wish him only the best as he finds a place to finish out his career and complete his education."

Sherrill averaged 2.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 13.1 minutes for the 49ers, this past season. He played in 25 of the 49ers 30 games, making three starts.

"I've enjoyed playing at Charlotte," Sherrill said, "but I think it's in my best interest to move on. I'll miss my teammates but I look forward to finding a better fit for myself."

In his three-year, 75-game career with the 49ers, Sherrill averaged 3.2 points and 2.2 rebounds while shooting .455 from the field. He scored in double figures in six games and made five starts.
