LOOKING BACK: RECAP LAST GAME:
Charlotte shot 38%, including just 18% from three-point range ind ropping a 72-56 decision to St. Bonaventure. Andrew Nicholson led the Bonnies with 25 points and 11 rebounds. St. Bonaventure built a 10-point half time lead and after Charlotte's run cut the lead to three, the Bonnies went on a 17-5 run to push the second half lead to 15. DeMario Mayfield and Javarris Barnett had 13 points each, with Mayfield adding 9 boards. SBU enjoyed a 37-28 edge on the boards and shot 48% from the field.
The Charlotte 49ers (13-14; 5-9, A-10) host Duquesne. Wednesday, in their final home game of the season. The game also completes a three-game homestand. Charlotte has split the first two games of the homestand, defeating George Washington and falling to St. Bonaventure. Charlotte, tied for 11th in the A-10 standings, has won three of its last six league games and has more wins (13) and more A-10 wins (5) than last year. At 15-13, 6-9, Duquesne is in 9th place, one game ahead of the 49ers in the standings.
FINAL WEEK: Entering the final week of the season, Charlotte appears to have clinched a spot in the upcoming A-10 Championship Tournament. Should it come down to a head-to-head tiebreaker, the 49ers own tie breakers over both Fordham and Rhode Island, who are two games back of the 49ers with two games remaining. In the event of a three-way tie that includes George Washington and either Fordham or Rhode Island, the 49ers also win the tiebreaker. (See Page 2)
1000-POINT CLUBBING: Chris Braswell became the 24th player to join the 49ers 1000-Point Club, last Wednesday night. In need of 8 points, he scored the 49ers first 9 points on his way to a 19-point effort in Charlotte's 72-62 win over George Washington. The last 49er, and the last junior, to join the 49ers' 1000-Point Club was Leemire Goldwire, in 2007. Deuce Briscoe scored his 1000th collegiate point this year, as well -- 535 of which came as a freshman at NC Central.
BRAZ ATTACK: Junior Chris Braswell is one of three A-10 players to rank in the top 15 in scoring (11th, 15.1) and rebounding (6th, 7.4). In A-10 games, he's one of three to rank in the top 10 of both (8th, 16.1 ppg; 10th, 7.1 rpg). The other two are St. Bonaventure's Andrew Nicholson and Fordham's Chris Gaston. Braswell also shoots .496 from the field and .765 from the line.
He scored his 1000th career-point, notched six double-doubles to move into 5th-place all-time (21 career) and scored in double-digits in 21 games, this year.
JB AT HOME IN A-10: In A-10 games only, Javarris Barnett leads the A-10 with 2.4 3FG/gm and is 3rd with a .478 3FG%. He is especially effective at home, where he averages a team-high 16.8 points shooting .554 from the floor; .577 3FG%. In A-10 games, Barnett scores 13.6 points with a .507 FG% and a .478 3FG%.

TOP A-10 Rookie: Freshman Pierria Henry, a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week, was tabbed by ESPN.com's Dana O'Neil as the A-10 Rookie of the Year, when A-10 play began. He broke the 49ers 28-year old single-season freshman steals record (66) and ranks 4th in the NCAA (2.7/gm). He averages 7.4 pts, 3.6 rebs, 3.2 asts and 2.6 stls -- within reach of the A-10 freshman record of 2.8 (Temple's Pepe Sanchez in 1996-97.) He has scored in double figures, nine times (6 vs. A-10).
Charlotte ranks in 28th in the NCAA in steals per game (8.4) and Pierria Henry (2.6; 6th) ranks in the top 10.

FRESHMAN STEALS RECORD:
With 66 steals, Pierria Henry has broken the 49ers freshman steals record. He is just the third 49ers freshman with 50 thefts. Keith Williams set the freshman record at 54 in 1983-84. Phil Ward also had 51 as a frosh in 1978-79.
His 66 steals are 6th most in a single-season, two shy of the top 5. He has at least one steal in every game played and multiple steals in 20.
The A-10 freshman record is 91 (TJ McConnell, '10-11) and the A-10 freshman record per game is 2.8 (Pepe Sanchez, '96-97).

MAYFIELD EMERGES: Over the last 7 games, sophomore DeMario Mayfield is averaging 13.1 points and 9.7 rebounds with three double-doubles. He's scored in double figures in 10 of his last 12. In A-10 games, he leads the 49ers with 8.4 rebounds per game (6th in A-10). He shares the team lead with six double-doubles and ranks 4th in the A-10 with 5.2 defensive rebounds.
Career-Best 20+: The 49ers have had three different players score a career-high of over points this semester. Javarris Barnett had a career-high 27 vs. Xavier, DeMario Mayfield scored a career-high 25 points vs. Kennesaw State, and Chris Braswell scored his career-high of 31 at UMass. BRASWELL'S CAREER NIGHT:
Chris Braswell scored a career-high 31 points at UMass. Braswell hit 9-of-15 shots, including 3-of-5 threes and made 10-of-11 foul shots. He added 9 boards. It is the most points scored by a 49er this year and the most since Shamari Spears had 31 vs. George Washington, 2/3/10.
BRASWELL MAKING MARK: With 1020 career points and 666 career rebounds in his third year, Chris Braswell is on his way up the career charts. He could become just the 8th player in school history to record 1000 points and 750 rebounds. Only three 49ers in school history have posted 1000 of each:

Charlotte scored 50 points in the paint in the win against Richmond, including 32 of 34 first half points. The 49ers made a season-low one three-pointer on just six attempts. Javarris Barnett, who ranked in the A-10's top 10 last year in three-point shooting, hit 9-of-11 shots for 22 points, and attempted just one three-pointer.
The Charlotte 49ers have one of the nation's top 20 youngest rosters. Charlotte's roster of 13 players has a total of 18 years of collegiate playing experience, counting junior college years (1.38 avg. per player).
