|Henry Earns Invitation to CP3 Elite Guard Camp|
Charlotte 49ers senior Pierria Henry will be one of the 20 collegiate guards nationally to participate in the invitation-only CP3 Elite Guard Camp hosted by NBA All-Star Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul. Henry will attend the camp from August 7-10 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
“It is a blessing to be invited to the CP3 Elite Guard Camp,” Henry said. “It is an incredible opportunity to participate in the camp and to learn from Chris Paul.”
The CP3 Elite Guard Camp invites the top-30 high school and top-20 collegiate guards from across the country. Henry and the other college guards will serve as counselors and will have an opportunity to learn from and play on the court with Paul.
Notable alumni of the CP3 Elite Camp include Steph Curry, Trey Burke, Michael Carter-Williams, Victor Oladipo and Kemba Walker.
Last season, Henry was named to the Conference USA All-Defensive team. He also earned third-team All-Conference USA honors.
This marked the second straight season that Henry has earned league All-Defensive team honors. In 2013, he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive team.
Last season, Henry was among a handful of players in the nation and the only one in Conference USA that averaged double-figure points (12.3 ppg) and at least five rebounds (5.1 rpg) and five assists (5.8 apg) per game. He was second in Conference USA and 26th in the nation in steals per game (2.13 spg). He was 23rd in the nation and second in Conference USA in assists per game (5.8 apg). Last season, Henry recorded 21 double-figure scoring games and five 20-point scoring games including scoring a season-high 26 points in the 49ers final regular season game at Marshall (March 6).
For his career, Henry has scored 911 points, dished out 393 assists, which is the ninth highest total in school history and recorded 220 steals, which is the fourth highest total in school history. This season, Henry needs 123 assists and 45 steals to become the program’s career leader in those categories.
