Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers men's basketball
sophomore guard Pierria Henry was just named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week
for the final week of the regular-season. This marks the first time in his
career that he has been named A-10 Player of the Week, last season he was named
A-10 Rookie of the Week a couple of times. Henry is the first Niner to be named
A-10 Player of the Week since Javarris Barnett claimed the honor, January 3,
2011. Henry is the seventh different Niner to earn Atlantic 10 Player of the Week
honors.
Last
week, Henry became the second 49ers this season to record consecutive
double-doubles. Last Wednesday, he scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds
with five assists and three steals in the 49ers 89-87 overtime win at Duquesne.
Then, he scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the 49ers 52-40 win over
Saint Joseph's last Saturday.
For the
week, he averaged 15 points, 10.5 rebounds, three assists and 2.5 steals in
helping the 49ers win their final two regular-season games and earn a berth in
this week's Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Henry
averages 10.0 points per game and is tied for second on the team in rebounding
at 5.3 boards per game. He has recorded 106 assists and ranks among the nation's
leaders with 83 steals.
Henry
and the rest of the 49ers return to action when they play Richmond in the first
round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament, Thursday, March 14 at 12 pm.
