49ers Signees In East-West All-Star Game

Charlotte 49ers men's basketball signees Shawn Lester (Mooresville, N.C./Mooresville Senior H.S.) and Denzel Ingram (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill H.S.) face each other tonight in the North Carolina East-West All-Star Game.  In addition, eight football signees will take part in Wednesday's East-West All-Star Football Game.

Lester will play for the West All-Stars while Ingram is on the East squad, this evening at Greensboro Coliseum.

Lester, a 6-3 shooting guard and Ingram, a 5-11 point guard, both scored over 1500 points in their careers and were chosen also to participate in the Carolina All-Star Basketball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. in March and the Jordan Brand Regional All-Star Classic in Charlotte's Time Warner Cable Arena in April.

Lester was Mooresville's top player this past season in every major statistical category: points per game (14.8), rebounds per game (7.5), assists per game (2.6), and steals per game (2.0).  He was named the Record and Landmark Boy's Basketball Player of the Year in each of the last two years.  He averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 assists and 5.0 steals as a junior and was ranked in the nation's top 130 by several recruiting sites and in the top 30 of shooting guards.  He finished his career with 1,532 points.

Ingram, the NCBCA 3A Basketball Player of the Year, averaged 23.9 points, 7.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 steals as a senior. A first-team all-state selection and an AP all-classifications all-state choice, Ingram was also named the 3A Basketball Player of the Year by NCPreps.com. A two-time Carolina 6 Player of the Year, Ingram led Tigers to the Carolina 6 Conference championship and an overall record of 26-2, including a perfect 25-0 record during the regular season.  Ingram completed his career ranked second all-time for the Tigers with 1570 points.

In April's Jordan Brand Classic, Lester, played for the West squad, scoring 8 points with 10 rebounds, while Ingram played 25 minutes for the victorious East Squad, scoring 10 points with 4 assists and a steal.  In March, Lester hit 4-of-5 three-point attempts and scored 12 points with six rebounds in the Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic between the North Carolina All-Stars and the South Caroline All-Stars.

On Wednesday, eight future 49ers will take the field in the East-West All-Star Football game.  Brandon Banks (High Pont, N.C./Southwest Guilford H.S.), Jalen Holt (Norwood, N.C./South Stanly H.S.), Larry Ogunjobi (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale H.S.), Mark Pettit (Greensboro, N.C./Western Guilford) and Mason Sledge (Monroe, N.C./Monroe H.S.) will represent the West team.  Terry Caldwell (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard H.S.), Ja'quil Capel (Mt. Gilead, N.C./West Montgomery H.S.) and Will Thomas (Hampstead, N.C./Topsail Senior H.S.) will play on the East squad.

The game will take place at Jamieson Stadium in Greensboro, N.C.
