Played on the 49ers baseball team for two years ... joined football team in fall, 2012.

Football, 2012: Practiced with the team as the 49ers prepared for the 2013 inaugural season.   2013:  Starting linebacker for the 49ers through the 49ers first eight games before taking an excused leave of absence from the team for the remainder of the season to attend to personal/family issues ... played in 7 games, with six starts ... missed one game (at Presbyterian) with injury ...  led 49ers in tackles in inaugural game vs. Campbell with 8 ... also led team with 7 tackles vs. NC Central and career-high 13 vs. UNC Pembroke, Oct. 12 ... had 52 tackles through seven games played, including 38 solos ... had 3.5 TFL including one sack ... addded one INT, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery ...  was named Madness FCS Independent Defensive Player of the Week by in week 2 win over Chowan after making six tackles, two for loss, with one sack, one fumble recovery and one INT ... served as team captain for home games vs. Chowan, Sept. 7 and NC Central, Sept. 14.

Baseball, 2012: Made 16 appearances, sixth-most on the team in 2012... Team was 2-14 in games in which he appeared... Did not allow an earned run in seven outings, including every other appearance from 3/16 to 4/29... Did not allow an earned run in four conference appearances and seven innings pitched... Did not record a decision or save... Recorded a strikeout in all but two appearances... His 26 strikeouts were the most of any of the nine Charlotte pitchers with one or no starts.

Baseball, 2011: Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, 3/1. Appeared in 13 games (team was 6-7 in those games), making three starts (team was 2-1 in those games), all starts coming against ACC opponents (Duke on 3/16, Wake Forest on 3/22 and No. 6 North Carolina on 3/29)... Lone win came in first collegiate appearance in Charlotte's first comeback win of season, 2/26 versus Missouri... Entered that game with the bases loaded and nobody out in the top of the ninth trailing 2-1 and induced two ground balls to third for force outs at home before a grounder to first ended the inning... The Niners scored two in the bottom of the ninth for his lone win of the season... Earned first career save in 11-inning win at La Salle on 5/13... Did not allow an earned run in eight of 13 season appearances.

At East Wilkes:

Coached by Montey Chipman, Bryan and the Cardinals went to the 3rd round of football playoffs with a 9-4 record ... Bryan was named Offensive and Defensive All-Conference for 3 years ... he was selected as Team MVP in 2009 and 2010 ... Bryan was named as 2010 Elkin Tribune MVP Offense ... baseball finished 17-8 in 2010... He led state of North Carolina in 2010 with 149 strikeouts, earning Wilkes County Pitcher of the Year ... was named Team MVP in 2009 and 2010 and basketball MVP in 2010 ... was a three-time All-Conference performer in football, basketball and baseball.
