After a few weeks of preseason practice, Charlotte volleyball is ready to tackle the 2013 season, starting this weekend with three matches at the Wildcat Classic at Davidson College.
The 49ers open the season with a 12 noon matchup with CSU Bakersfield at Belk Gym on Friday. Later that night, the Niners tangle with host Davidson at 7 p.m. The weekend concludes for Charlotte with a 10 a.m. Saturday morning matchup with Charleston Southern.
Charlotte’s schedule will push on to the Country Inn and Suites Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn. as the 49ers play a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, September 6-7.
Charlotte’s final weekend road tournament will be at the Spartan Classic, hosted by Norfolk State. The 49ers play one match per day from Thursday, September 12 to Saturday, September 14.
After a Tuesday night road contest at North Carolina A&T, the 49ers host the 49er Invite on September 20 and 21. Charlotte takes on South Carolina State at 7 p.m. Friday, before hosting Tennessee State Saturday at 12:30 and Elon at 7 p.m. that evening.
A lone home weeknight match follows that next Tuesday the 24th, as Gardner-Webb appears in Halton Arena at 7 p.m.
The Niners begin the Conference USA schedule that weekend in Florida, taking on FIU and FAU before hosting Louisiana Tech and Tulane the first Friday and Sunday of October.
The 12th-Annual Dig Pink Match will take place on Friday, October 18 against Tulsa. Senior day will be Friday night, November 15 against Southern Miss. at 7 p.m.
The 49ers will face each of the other 14 C-USA teams one time in regular-season play. The Conference tournament, which will feature the top 12 teams in the regular season, will be contested at Middle Tennessee from November 21-24.
Live stats and video will be offered from the Charlotte49ers Web site for home matches this season. Road events will depend on the opponent and will be listed, when offered, at the site.
