|Women’s tennis back home Wednesday afternoon|
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte women’s tennis team returns to the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex for a 2 p.m. Wednesday match against Mercer. The 49ers have won their last two home contests, including a 4-3 triumph over USC Upstate Friday.
Charlotte owns a 3-6 record heading into Wednesday’s meeting after dropping a 4-0 decision to Appalachian State on the road Monday. The Niners have alternated wins and losses each of their last four times out on the courts and continue to seek consistency this spring.
Three players share the team lead with three singles victories apiece during the dual match campaign. Setting the pace for Charlotte include sophomore Tyler Baker and juniors Lisa Grosselius and Natsuko Takayanagi.
Takayanagi also leads the 49ers with three doubles wins, matching freshman Macy Vonderschmidt.
Mercer currently owns a 5-6 ledger this spring after defeating Jacksonville State, 4-2, Tuesday afternoon before making the trek to the Queen City.
Charlotte owns a 2-0 all-time series lead against the Bears after claiming a 4-1 victory in the last meeting, Feb. 8, 2013.
Admission to Wednesday’s match, and all home tennis contests, is free.
