CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte women’s tennis team looks to get back on the courts for a 2 p.m. Wednesday match at Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C., in non-conference action.

The 49ers currently have won their last three contests to improve to 9-4 during the dual match campaign and enter following back-to-back 7-0 shutout victories over Wofford and Dayton. The meeting with the Flyers at home Thursday marked the only regular-season Atlantic 10 match for the Niners.

Charlotte is in search of its third-straight double-digit victory campaign and eighth of head coach Michaela Gorman’s 10 seasons in charge of the program.

Already reaching double-figure singles wins are seniors Anna Ekelund and Iveta Guneva. Both have tallied 10-2 records, helping to anchor the bottom half of the lineup, while ensuring the 49ers .500 records or better at each of the six singles slots.

Ekelund also is one-half of the top doubles pairing, teaming with sophomore Lisa Grosselius for a 10-1 mark as each of the three doubles positions are also at .500 or better. The combo of freshman Jessica Pérez and senior Alexandra Zinn has posted a 4-0 ledger this spring.

Gardner-Webb knocked off Presbyterian Monday at home to improve to 6-10 in dual matches. The triumph snapped a three-match losing streak for the Runnin’ Bulldogs and head coach Jim Corn.

Erica White, who plays at the top singles position, paces the squad with a 13-3 mark, while her doubles tandem with Jenny Lunde is 12-2 at the No. 1 spot.
