CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte women's tennis team puts its three-match win streak on the line when it travels to Greenville, N.C., to face East Carolina at 1 p.m. Friday. The Niners and Pirates have already squared off against one another this season, having met in round-robin play during the Charlotte 49er Invitational during the fall tournament campaign.

Charlotte's three-match win streak raises the team's overall record to 5-1, including a 3-1 mark this spring. The 49ers are coming off a 4-2 victory at Liberty Saturday in which they captured the doubles point for the third-straight time. In each of its five wins, Charlotte has jumped out in front with a 1-0 lead after doubles play has concluded.

Anna Ekelund and Iveta Guneva pace the squad with nine singles wins apiece, including five in dual match action. The balanced lineup from top to bottom also includes a pair of six-match winners, Jessica Pérez and Natsuko Takayanagi.

In doubles, Ekelund's pairing with Lisa Grosselius has produced the most victories thus far with 10. Takayanagi and Alexandra Zinn are next with six triumphs.

The Pirates are 4-1 during the dual match portion of their schedule, having completed a pair of 7-0 sweeps Saturday at North Carolina A&T and versus Winston-Salem State. East Carolina also owns a three-match win streak, having opened with a 7-0 home blanking over UNC Asheville Feb. 6.

Friday's contest will be the last on the road until March for the 49ers, who return to the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex for a season-long five-match homestand starting Monday.
