Charlotte women's tennis captured its sixth win in seven matches with a 6-1 home victory over cross-county rival Davidson at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex Tuesday afternoon. Charlotte improves to 13-2 on the season with the Wildcats slipping to 3-12. The win improves the 49ers home mark to 9-0.
Charlotte swept the doubles for the seventh time this season. Charlotte's number-one pairing of senior Andrea Rivera (Lima, Peru) junior Alexandra Zinn (Trelleborg, Sweden) took an 8-3 victory for their 14th win together this season.
Junior Anna Ekelund (Lomma, Sweden) and freshman Lisa Grosselius (Molndal, Sweden) improved to a team-best 16-1 at number two with an 8-1 victory.
In singles, Charlotte took singles matches at spots two through six in straight sets before Davidson captured its lone point with a three-set win at number one.
Takayanagi improved to 19-4, with an 11-2 mark at the number-three position in the lineup with her victory. Junior Iveta Guneva stayed in second on the squad with a 14th singles victory for the season and her ninth win at number six.
The 49ers continue the five-match home stand with a Saturday morning match against East Carolina at 10 a.m.
