Lisa Grosselius becomes the fifth tennis player named Player or Rookie of the Week this season.
Charlotte freshman Lisa Grosselius (Molndal, Sweden) was today named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week. This marks the fifth-straight week one of Charlotte's male or female tennis players has been named to one of the league's weekly awards. Grosselius finished another perfect 2-0 week in singles and doubles play as Charlotte pushed its win streak to five straight matches with a pair of home wins. She and doubles partner, junior Anna Ekelund, improved to 13-1 together this season, winners of a team-best six straight doubles matches. Grosselius has also captured four-straight singles wins with her pair of victories this week. She is 11-7 in singles play this season, with a 9-2 mark at number four. Teammates Alexandra Zinn (February 20) and Andrea Rivera(February 27) were named A-10 Player of the Week already this season, with male student-athletes Jack WIlliams (March 6) and Kamil Khalil (March 12) earning Men's Tennis Rookie honors previously this year. The women program currently sits at 12-1 so far this season. The women will travel to Charleston on Tuesday morning for an neutral-site Atlantic 10 Conference match versus Massachusetts at 10 a.m. The women will then be home for a final, five-match home stand, which begins Saturday at 11 a.m. against UNC Wilmington. |
