CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
Charlotte 49ers women’s tennis and head coach Michaela Gorman
have announced the addition of another player for the upcoming 2013-14 campaign, local star Briana Bodner. Bodner, from Davidson, N.C., graduated from Hough HS and will be eligible beginning this fall with the Niners.
“We are thrilled to have Briana join our team in August,” Gorman said. “She will be a great addition both on and off the court.”
Her high school career culminated with a ranking as high as No. 21 in the state according to the website tennisrecruiting.net. She earned back-to-back I-Meck 4A Conference singles titles as a sophomore and junior in 2010 and 2011, respectively, before finishing as the runner-up her senior campaign.
Bodner was recognized by the Charlotte Observer
and the Carolina Weekly Newspaper Group’s Lake Norman Area Player of the Year in 2011 and as the conference co-player of the year following the same season. She also garnered a spot on the 2011 Lake Norman Area Girl’s Super Team.
She was a three-time I-Meck 4A all-league performer, reaching the 2012 4A Western regional round of the state tournament in singles action. She lettered all four years of her high school career.
Bodner will join fellow newcomers Victoria Pahlett (Växjö, Sweden), Macy Vonderschmidt
(McKinney, Texas) and Willemijn Witkam
(Beesd, The Netherlands) on the 2013-14 roster. Pahlett will not be a member of the program until the spring 2014 semester.
