CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte women’s tennis moved its Friday match with Conference USA foe Middle Tennessee indoors to avoid inclement weather, but the 49ers could not use it to their advantage in dropping a 4-0 decision at the Charlotte Indoor Tennis Club.

Charlotte (5-10, 0-2 C-USA) was unable to sustain any momentum at the unfamiliar surroundings, as the Blue Raiders jumped out in front quickly by securing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 3 spots.

Each of the three Niners who completed their singles matches against their Middle Tennessee (8-6, 3-1 C-USA) adversaries fell in straight sets. Sophomore Tyler Baker won the most games of the trio, dropping a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Flavia Nagayama in the No. 5 contest.

Reigning Conference USA Athlete of the Week Macy Vonderschmidt squared off against Nayara Moraes at the No. 3 position but the meeting was pulled when MT clinched the overall team victory. Vonderschmidt’s career-long six-match win streak remains intact with the decision.

The 49ers will look to rebound when they close the regular-season road slate at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday when they travel to Greensboro, N.C., to face UNC Greensboro.
