CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
Charlotte women’s tennis was back on the courts for the first time in nearly two weeks but the 49ers lost 7-0 to nearby Winthrop Wednesday afternoon at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
The Eagles swept through two of the three doubles matches with the other being unfinished. The top doubles team for Charlotte (1-4) of Tyler Baker
and Lisa Grosselius
battled to a 6-7 decision against the Garcia sisters, Alice and Andressa, before it was called due to the other two contests going final.
Unfortunately for the Niners, Winthrop (1-1) continued its strong play in singles action and Charlotte was unable to come away with a set win.
The 49ers will look to get back to their winning ways when they play host to Belmont Abbey at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the third home match of the spring campaign. Winthrop 7, Charlotte 0 Singles
