Charlotte, NC – Kamil Khalil won both his singles and doubles matches but the Charlotte 49ers (11-9) lost to Presbyterian (19-9), 4-2, at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

“Our guys fought hard today, but we never really got going,” Charlotte coach Billy Boykin said. “We made a final push at the end of the singles, but Presbyterian wouldn’t let us have it. I give them credit for a hard fought win. We will keep working and try to make a few adjustments in our next match against UNC Greensboro. ”

Presbyterian won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. At number one doubles, Charlotte’s Jordi Massalle Ferrer and Jack Williams lost to Presbyterian’s Grayson Mills and Rafael Berghaus, 8-5. At number two doubles, Charlotte’s Alex Calott and Paul Cisti lost to Presbyterian’s Andrew Brigham and William O’Connell, 8-4. At number three doubles, Charlotte’s Khalil and Krzysztof Kwasniewicz defeated Presbyterian’s Danny Bruce and Edward Snead, 8-2 for their 11th win of the season.

Presbyterian won three singles matches to clinch the overall victory. At number one singles, Charlotte’s Williams lost to Presbyterian’s Mills, 6-3, 6-1. At number two singles, Charlotte’s Massalle Ferrer defeated Presbyterian’s O’Connell, 7-5, 6-2, for his 24th win of the season. At number three singles, Charlotte’s Khalil defeated Presbyterian’s Berghaus, 6-3, 6-4, for his seventh straight win. With the win, Khalil improved to 11-5 on the season.
