Boling Springs, NC - The Charlotte 49ers (5-5) saw their two-match winning streak end with a 5-2 loss on the road at Gardner-Webb (4-3).
"Tough match today," Charlotte coach Billy Boykin said. "Gardner-Webb deserves credit for the win; they were tough at every spot."
Gardner-Webb won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. At number one doubles, Charlotte's Kamil Khalil and Krzysztof Kwasniewicz defeated Gardner-Webb's Adam Knutsson and Matt Parker, 8-6. At number two doubles, Charlotte's Paul Cisti and Alex Weber lost to Gardner-Webb's Ernest Alberch and Nikita Zverkov, 8-6. At number three doubles, Charlotte's Jordi Massalle Ferrer and Nate Shanok lost to Gardner-Webb's Brendan Dempsey and Benjamin Kaszas, 8-7 (7-3).
Gardner-Webb won four of the six singles matches to claim the overall victory. At number one singles, Charlotte's Massalle Ferrer defeated Gardner-Webb's Knutsson, 6-1, 6-3. At number two singles, Charlotte's Cisti defeated Gardner-Webb's Kaszas, 6-2, 6-3. At number three singles, Charlotte's Khalil lost to Gardner-Webb's Roman Piftor, 6-3, 6-3. At number four singles, Charlotte's Kwasniewicz lost to Gardner-Webb's Alberch, 6-2, 6-3. At number five singles, Charlotte's Shanok lost to Gardner-Webb's Dempsey, 6-2, 6-1. At number six singles, Charlotte's Weber lost to Gardner-Webb's Zverkov, 6-4, 6-4.
