Junior Anthony Davison won his second singles match in as many days, but Charlotte lost a 5-2 match to UNC Greensboro on Thursday afternoon at the Halton-Wagner Complex. The 49ers are 3-11 on the year, while the Spartans push their record to 9-3.

"We continue to show match-by-match improvement," said 49ers head coach Billy Boykin. "We were right in the thick of the match with a very strong and experienced UNC-Greensboro team that earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Team Championships last year."

Davison won 6-4, 6-4 at number four, improving his record to 4-1 in that spot in the lineup. He has seven singles wins this season.

Charlotte's other team point came from a singles win from senior Moritz Bernhoerster at number three, 6-2, 6-0. He is tied for the team lead with 10 singles wins.

"We had terrific singles performances by Moritz Bernhoerster and Anthony Davison," added Boykin. "Chris Huynh and Mike Anders played very solid doubles today and gave us a chance to win the doubles point. We will keep working on the practice courts and I feel that our best tennis is still to come."

Though the Niners did not win the doubles point, they got a 9-7 win at number three from the senior tandem of Michael Anders and Chris Huynh. This partnership is 2-2 together this season.

Charlotte hosts Winthrop next Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
