The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team evened its mark to 3-3 on the season with a pair of 7-0 home sweeps, over Johnson C. Smith in the morning and Milligan on Sunday afternoon at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

Seven different 49ers saw action in singles between the two matches, with all singles matches resulting in straight-set victories. Four combined games were lost to opponents in the six doubles matches.

"We showed good poise and demonstrated good shot selection today," said head coach Billy Boykin.

"Our doubles play was excellent today and we had some good efforts in singles. Our seniors led the way for us all day. Plus, our guys got to see (former Charlotte assistant and current Milligan head coach) Ryan Reynolds. He worked with a lot fo our guys in the past and our guys enjoyed getting to compete against him on the court. We need to play at a high level this week as a tough Bonnies team will give us a match this Thursday."

The doubles pair of Moritz Bernhoerster and Charles Martin-Lecamp has emerged in recent weeks. The pair is 3-0, winning both doubles matches on Sunday.

Freshman Victor Theorin is also surging this spring, winning five singles matches in a row and leading the 49ers with a 9-8 mark. Bernhoerster improved his singles record to 7-9 with two Sunday singles victories.

Thursday, Charlotte will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to take on conference foe St. Bonaventure in a neutral-site league match at 6:30 p.m.
