49ers Drops Road Match At College of Charleston

Greensboro, NC – Forrest Edwards won his 18th match of the season but the Charlotte 49ers (9-5) fell on the road at the College of Charleston (12-5), 4-1.

College of Charleston won two doubles matches to claim the doubles point. At number two doubles, Charlotte’s Jack Williams and Paul Cisti lost to College of Charleston’s Rodrigo Encinas and Crescente Lesser, 8-5. At number three doubles, Charlotte’s Alex Calott and Nate Shanok lost to Charleston’s Zack Lewis and Charlie Ghriskey, 8-0. At number one doubles, Charlotte’s Kamil Khalil and Jordi Massalle Ferrer did not finish their match with the College of Charleston’s Brice Allanic and Alon Faiman. The match was tied at six games apiece.

College of Charleston won three singles matches to claim the overall victory. At number one singles, Charlotte’s Edward defeated Charleston’s Allanic, 6-3, 6-1 to improve to 18-6 on the season. At number two singles, Charlotte’s Khalil lost to Charleston’s Encinas, 6-4, 6-3. At number four singles, Charlotte’s Williams lost to College of Charleston’s Lewis, 6-4, 6-2. At number five singles, Charlotte’s Calott lost to College of Charleston’s Ghriskey in three hard fought sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. At number three singles, Charlotte’s Massalle Ferrer did not finish his match with Charleston’s Lesser. When the match was stopped, Massalle Ferrer was leading, 6-4, 4-6, 4-3. At number six singles, Charlotte’s Paul Cisti did not finish his match with Charleston’s Faiman. When the match was stopped, the score was 7-6, 1-6, 4-3.

Charlotte returns to action on the road at Davidson, Thursday, April 3 at 3 pm.
