The Charlotte 49ers men’s tennis team (11-8) will play Presbyterian and UNC Greensboro at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex in their final two regular-season matches, April 14th and 15th, First, the 49ers play Presbyterian, Sunday, April 14 at 1 pm. Then, the 49ers play UNC Greensboro in their regular-season finale, Monday, April 15 at 3:30 pm. These two matches will mark the final two homes matches for seniors Krzyzstof Kwasniewicz and Hector Linares.
Jordi Massalle Ferrer leads the 49ers with 23 singles wins. Massalle Ferrer’s 23 singles wins ties him for the 10th highest single-season wins total in school history. Paul Cisti is second on the team with 17 singles wins. Jack Williams and Alex Calott each have 16 singles win. Kamil Khalil has won six straight matches giving him 10 singles wins on the season.
Khalil and Kwasniewicz have combined for 10 doubles wins. They have won seven of their last 11 matches. Massalle Ferrer and Williams have posted a 10-3 doubles record this season. They have won eight of their last 11 matches. The doubles team of Calott and Cisti have won 10 doubles matches this season. They have won six of their last seven matches.
Sunday’s match will mark the eighth meeting between Presbyterian and Charlotte. The 49ers lead the all-time series, 4-3. Charlotte defeated Presbyterian, 5-2, on the road in their last meeting, February 28, 2012. Monday’s match with UNC Greensboro will mark the 23rd meeting between the two teams.
