CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte men's tennis team defeated Tennessee Tech 6-1 in a dominating performance at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex earlier Saturday afternoon.

"Today was a solid overall effort from our team," said head coach Billy Boykin. "We struggled to find consistency in our doubles play, but played pretty fearless tennis at the end to clinch the doubles point. We took that momentum into the singles and our play was pretty solid from top to bottom. I'm pleased with how we competed and am looking forward to a good week of practice."

In the singles competition, Forrest Edwards defeated Alejandro Augusto 6-3, 6-2. Alex Calott took down Artem Tarasov 6-2, 6-0. Edwards and Calott have won nine single matches this season. Jordi Massallé Ferrer topped Vasily Eremeev 6-1, 6-2 and Kamil Khalil defeated Alvaro Cintas 6-3, 6-2. Paul Cisti wrapped up the singles by winning 6-0, 6-0 over Othon Lima. Syrym Abdukhalikov got Tennessee Tech's only win in the singles round and defeated Jack Williams 6-7, 6-4, 10-6.

In doubles action, Williams and Edwards defeated Abdukhalikov and Augusto 8-7. Kamil Khalil and Krzysztof Kwasniewicz took down Cintas and Pavel Perovic 8-1. Calott and Ferrer fell 8-4 to Tarasov and Eremeev.

The Niners return back to action on Saturday, Feb. 2 as they host Campbell at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.
