49ers Compete In Singles At ITA Regionals

Cary, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team had six players competing in the singles bracket of the ITA Carolina Regionals, Thursday, October 18. Forest Edwards and Jordi Massalle Ferrer each won their first round matches before falling in the second round.

Edwards defeated Elon's Jordan Kaufman in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Then, he lost to UNC Wilmington's Sam Williams in the second round, 7-5, 6-4.

Massalle Ferrer defeated East Carolina's Mario Martinez, 7-5, 6-7 (1), 6-3. Then, he lost to NC State's Rafael Paez, 6-4, 6-0.

In other singles action at the Regionals, Charlotte's Krzysztof Kwasniewicz lost to East Carolina's John Schmitt, 6-3, 6-4, in the first round. He has a bye into the second round of the Consolation Bracket.

Charlotte's Jack Williams lost to Elon's Cameron Silverman, 6-1, 6-3 in the first round. Then, he defeated Duke's DJ McCall, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, in the consolation bracket.

Charlotte's Alex Calott lost to Wake Forest's Adam Lee in three hard fought sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0. He has a bye into the second round of the consolation bracket.

Charlotte's Paul Cisti lost to Wake Forest's Jon Ho, 7-6, 6-2. Cisti also has a bye into the second round of the consolation bracket.

The doubles teams of sophomore Kamil Khalil and Kwasniewicz, Calott and Cisti and Williams and Edwards are playing today.
