Charlotte golf put up the squad's best finish of the young season with a third-place finish at the Tar Heel Invitational after a final round 10-over par 298 at the UNC Finley Course in Chapel Hill. Freshman Dan Hendry (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) finished his second collegiate tournament with a one-under 71 to end his weekend tied for fourth among all individuals at three-under par. He was one of just nine individuals to finish under par for the three rounds over the weekend.
Charlotte entered the final round in a tie for second at one-under with the host Tar Heels at the tournament.
"We just never really got a whole lot going today to make a move, but overall, it was a good week for our guys," said Charlotte head coach Ryan Cabbage. "I am obviously very proud of Dan Hendry with his finish and Joe Toland, after bogeying the first four holes of the tournament to come back and have a nice showing. And credit to Daniel Brantley for his first collegiate tournament. Overall, it was a good week for our guys and I feel like it was a good week we can build on. We still have some work to do and we look forward to I as we get ready for our next action in two weeks, but
Freshman Daniel Brantley (Asheboro, N.C.) saw his score post for all three days of his first collegiate tournament, with a consistent 73-71-75 for a three-over 219 and a tie for 21st place.
