THE 49ers: The Charlotte 49ers, who have won a league-record six straight Atlantic 10 titles and earned bids to a school-record seven straight NCAA Tournaments will compete in the 2011 NCAA Regional hosted by Indiana University at Wolf Run Golf Club in Zionsville, Indiana. The 49ers are paired with Memphis and Wichita State and will tee off from 9:10 -9:50 local time in round one.

Charlotte is led by a trio of all-Atlantic 10 performers. Senior Will Golden leads the 49ers with a 72.50 stroke average that includes seven straight top 20 finishes.  Sophomore Andy Sajevic has rallied to lead the 49ers in the last two outings, sharing medalist honors at the Hawkeye-TaylorMade Invitational (Apr. 16-17) and placing third at the A-10 Championship, Apr. 29-May 1.  Junior Olafur Loftsson, who participated in last fall's World Amateur Team Championships for his native Iceland, owns a 73.58 stroke average.

Charlotte has reached the NCAA finals three times (2006, 2007, 2008), posting top 10 finishes in 2007 (T3rd) and 2008 (T8th).

SEVEN STRAIGHT NCAA BIDS

The 49ers golf team is making its  school-record 7th straight NCAA Tournament appearance -- they were the first program in school history to reach 4 straight NCAAs.

49ERS WIN RECORD SIXTH STRAIGHT A-10 TITLES

Charlotte has won the Atlantic 10 Championship in each of its six years in the league -- setting an A-10 record for consecutive league titles.  The six titles share the record for most in league history.

DIBITETTO LED 2007 THIRD-PLACE TEAM

Interim head coach Andrew DiBitetto placed 9th at the 2007 NCAA Championship to lead the 49ers to a best-ever third-place finish.

STATS, MAN: Junior Olafur Loftsson ranks third in the NCAA (golfstat.com) in Total Short Game (70.8) and is 8th in Avg. Putts (29.07) and T24th in Sand Saves (55.2).  Will golden ranks 33rd in Greens in Regulation (70.9).  Charlotte is 7th in Total Short Game (56.8), 16th in Sand Saves (43.4), 17th in Fairways (69.1) and 22nd in Greens in Regulation (64.0).

LOW SCORES; HIGH MARKS

All five 49ers that competed at the A-10 Championship carry a 3.0 GPA or higher -- and all five placed in the top 12 at the event.  Three (Sajevic, Golden, Rafael Guerrero)  were named to the A-10 all-Academic team.  Charlotte has had at least two players named A-10 all-Academic every year, with a record of three in 2006 and 2011.  Charlotte has had the A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year in golf in each of its six years in the league. Charlotte has also claimed the A-10 title in each of those six years.
